Google, the worlds largest network provider, recently disclosed that it spent over $30 billion in an effort to significantly improve its infrastructure. Multiple regions will be opening up in 2018, starting with Netherlands and Montreal, and followed by Los Angeles, Finland, and Hong Kong. Google also plans to build three new ocean cables to connect Chile to Los Angeles, the U.S. to Denmark and Ireland, and a variety of Asian communication hubs.
Google already has has the largest network in the world, with over 100 points of presence and 7,500 edge catching nodes. The company’s network accounts for approximately 25% of the world’s internet traffic. Google’s recent infrastructure investments will mean faster and more reliable connectivity for all users as the company improves upon and expands its product offerings.
